Global Health High School Curriculum- WGHA Ambassadors
The Washington Global Health Alliance and Seattle BioMed launched the three-year Ambassadors education program (WGHAA) in 2008. This program brought together four pilot Washington State high schools: Blaine High School, Cleveland High School, Health Sciences and Human Services High School and Toppenish High School and developed a cross-state global health network, including Washington State University.

The program included an interdisciplinary 11th grade curriculum (chemistry, algebra and social studies) designed and piloted by more than a dozen high school teachers over the course of two years, Seattle BioMed’s BioQuest Site Explorations, an annual Global Health Celebration at each school, and teacher professional development training.

Key accomplishments of the program:

-
Students realized significant learning gains in algebra, chemistry and history
-
Professional development improved teacher skills and curriculum assessment
-
Increased student understanding of and interest in global health
